news and performances 2009
Allison has been recording an album of her original “Cabaret Nouveau” music. This album features such fabulous musicians as Tim Carless, trombone, Colin Davis and Marco Villalobos on drums, Dan Fabricant and Stoo Odom on bass, Mark Sowlakis on clarinet, Willie “The Mailman” on sax and more..
After returning from a tour of Japan with the Graves Brothers Deluxe (highlight: playing with Kalabata of Acid Mothers Temple and Saichi Yamamoto in Tokyo), she took a breath and then assisted with the first annual Songbird Festival in San Francisco, both as performer and advisor. Presented by vocalist and impresaria Therese Davis, this festival promises to bring more incredible female talents to new audiences in the future.
She received a commission to record new “Nocturnes” for piano by composers Marcus Shelby and Chus Alonso and premiered Chus’’s “Notturno al Ventana” in August.
Next week she’ll be touring with the Graves Brothers Deluxe again in New Orleans, Mobile and other deep southern cities..
More to come, with new links to recordings, video, and photos…
